How to Calculate How Many Tiles You Need?

How to Calculate How Many Tiles You Need?
Formula Explanation

To calculate how many tiles you need, follow these simple formulas:

Step1: Measure the Area to be Tiled:

  • Determine the length and width of the area in feet or meters.

Step 2: Calculate the total area using the formula:

Total Area (Square Feet) = Length × Width

Step 3: Determine the Area Covered by a Single Tile:

  • Measure the length and width of a single tile.

Calculate its area using the formula:

Tile Area (Square Feet) = Tile Length × Tile Width

Calculate the Number of Tiles Needed:

Divide the total area to be tiled by the area of one tile:

Number of Tiles Needed = Total Area / Tile Area

Step 4:Add a Waste Allowance:

Add an extra 10-15% to account for potential breakage or cuts:

Total Tiles Needed = Number of Tiles Needed × (1+Waste Percentage)
